Spray foam insulation in Tallahassee is foam sprayed onto your roof deck, walls or crawl space that insulates and seals air leaks in one layer, so the muggy outside air stays out and the cool air you pay for stays in.
Most folks call when the upstairs won't cool down, the room over the garage bakes all summer or the power bill keeps creeping up. RightFit Tallahassee Insulation Services is based in Tallahassee and works in the cities around it. Your price moves with the size of the area, whether it's open or closed cell, how thick it goes on, how hard the space is to get into and whether anything needs fixing first. If the old insulation up there is soaked or full of droppings, insulation removal comes before any foam, because new material over a mess just keeps the mess. The schedule turns on that prep, the time of year and when your family can be out of the house, and you'll get your own number once I've seen the space.
How we do a spray foam insulation job
First I look at the spot you want done and check what's underneath, because foam over a roof leak or a damp crawl space just hides the problem, and on the farm we didn't paint over rot either. Then we settle on open cell or closed cell, and I walk you through what each one is good at for that spot, since a roof deck, a wall and a crawl space don't ask for the same thing. Before anything gets sprayed, we plan the time your family will be out of the house and talk through any health concerns, so nobody's caught off guard. On the day, we mask off the space, spray it evenly out to the edges where coverage tends to run thin, trim and clean up, then show you what we did and why.
Foam isn't always the right call, and I'll tell you when it isn't. It costs more, and it seals the air while it insulates, which earns its keep when your ductwork runs through the attic. If the ducts aren't up there, sealing the gaps and topping up with blown-in insulation, loose fill blown in through a hose, usually wins on price. Our attic insulation work covers that whole picture, from checking how many inches are already up there to getting the depth even.
What spray foam insulation in Tallahassee runs into
The city's own rules don't settle whether a spray foam job needs a building permit. The City of Tallahassee requires permits for alterations and changes of occupancy, and its list names those, not insulation. So we find out whether your address sits inside the city limits or outside them, check with the office that covers it and handle the permit paperwork when the job needs one. If you'd like to ask yourself, inside the city you can call the city's building inspection office at 850-891-7001, option 2, then option 1. Outside the city limits, call the Leon County Development Services Department at 850-606-1300.
A lot of houses around Tallahassee have their ducts running through a hot attic, and that's where foam at the roof line does the most good, because it brings the ductwork inside the cooled part of the house. We see the same setup on jobs in Bradfordville and Crawfordville, and I check what's under the spot there too before we cover it.
Why call us for spray foam
I come out and check it
I come out to look at the job and write the estimate myself, our own crew does the install, and I check the work before we call it done. You deal with the same person from the first look to the last.
In business since 2017
I learned insulation on other people's crews before starting this business in 2017. Nine years on, I'd still rather tell you about a leak than sell you more foam.
Licensed and insured crew
We're licensed and insured, so you're not taking a chance on who's working in your attic. Satisfaction guaranteed on every job.
Sprayed when the weather suits
Temperature and humidity play a big part in how foam cures, and a Tallahassee summer has plenty of both. I'll tell you which time of year suits your job before we book it.

Frequently asked questions
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Tallahassee?
Spray foam insulation in Tallahassee usually costs about $1,800 to $4,500 for a 1,000-square-foot area sprayed 3 inches thick. That's the going rate around here, not a quote from us, and closed cell, a thicker layer, a tight space or a leak to sort out first all push your number up. Call (850) 222-9906 and I'll come price your space.
How do I choose between open cell and closed cell spray foam?
Choose open cell if a lower price and quieter rooms matter most, and closed cell if you want the most insulating in a tight space or worry about water reaching the inside of your walls. Closed cell is the dense foam, about twice as energy efficient per inch, and it can keep water out of the wall cavity if a leak gets past the siding. Open cell costs less and blocks sound much better, but it lets water vapor pass through.
How long does it take before we can go back in the house after spray foam?
Everyone, kids and pets included, stays out while the foam goes in and until it has finished curing and the house has been aired out and cleaned, which is what EPA guidance says. Some makers recommend 24 hours after a professional two-part, high-pressure install before anyone comes back, but it varies by product. I'll give you the maker's re-entry time, the point when it's fine to come home, for the foam we'll use, and we'll plan your time away around it.
Is spray foam a good idea if someone in my house has asthma?
Check before you book, because the same EPA guidance says people with asthma, respiratory allergies, skin conditions or a past reaction to isocyanates, one of the chemicals in the foam, should read the product information carefully and may want to consider safer alternatives. Tell me at the start and I'll get you the product details. If another insulation suits your house better, I'll say so.
Can closed cell spray foam hide a roof leak?
Yes, because water won't get through closed cell foam at the roof, so a leak may not show right away. That helps if a hurricane tears up the roof, but on a worn roof it makes a slow leak harder to find. That's why I look at the roof deck before we spray and tell you if the roof needs fixing first.
Does the City of Tallahassee insulation grant cover spray foam?
No, the City of Tallahassee Utilities ceiling insulation grant covers only blown fiberglass and loose-fill cellulose, so foam falls outside it. If the grant matters to you, ask me about blown-in for the attic at the estimate and we'll see whether it fits your house.
Other insulation work that goes with spray foam
Attic insulation
Worth a look when the upstairs runs hot and you want to know what's up there now and whether it's enough.
Blown-in insulation
Often the cheaper way to thicken up an attic floor once the gaps are sealed, and it can go right over what you've got if that's dry and clean.
